Built by North American during 1944. Constructor Number 108-37583. Delivered to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25J Mitchell serial number 44-31508.
During January 1960, this B-25 was offered for disposal at at Olmstead AFB. That same month, acquired by Nathanial A. Kalt / Stinson Field Aircraft in San Antonio, TX and registered with the FAA as N6578D and then owned by William P. Strube of Marietta, GA.
During October 1961, sold to Trans Calypso Inc. in Miami, FL. Next in 1965 sold to Leon H. Patin in Miami, FL.
In June 1967 acquired by John Hawke / Euramericair Inc. / Airspeed International Inc. in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. During November 1967, modified into a camera ship in preparation for use in Hollywood Movie Battle of Britain and flown to Bovington, United Kingdom arriving on December 15, 1967.
During 1967-1968, this B-25 was used as the camera ship during the filming of Battle of Britain (1969) filmed in the United Kingdom and Spain. On January 10, 1969 flown back to the United States.
Afterwards, this B-25 was parked at Caldwell-Wright Field, NJ and reported as derelict until 1977.
Acquired during March 1975 by Ten Plus One Inc.
During April 1977 acquired by Tom Reilly / Tom Reilly's Flying Tigers Warbird Museum. Restoration of the B-25 was begun at Caldwell-Wright Field, then on February 3, 1979 ferried to Kissimmee Airport, Florida.
During 1981, restoration to airworthy status was completed and the plane was in natural aluminium finish as B-25J "Chapter XI" 44-31508 with the nose art "Chapter XI" with the 5th Air Force logo and "25th Bomber Group" [an 8th Air Force unit that served in ETO] with tail serial number 44-31508.
During February 1979 acquired by the B-25 Bomber Group Inc. in Ocalla, FL. Next in August 1994 owned by Dan Powell / Fair Oaks Ranch in Boerne, TX. Painted in the markings of "Lucky Lady" with the nose art of a woman on top of a pair of dice.
On June 16, 1999 purchased by Rio Grande Aviation in McAllen, TX and was withdrawn from flying and was parted at Franklin, VA during June 1999 until 2007.
On March 31, 2019 Reevers Warbirds, Australia project now offered for sale through brokers Historic & Classic Aircraft Sales Ltd.
